　　AEIS教材中这些名词均含有“选择”之意。

　　1.choice : 侧重指自由选择的权利或特权。

　　Of the twochoices, I prefer the latter.(在两种选择中, 我要后者。)

　　2.alternative : 指在相互排斥的两者之间作严格的选择，也可指在两者以上中进行选择。

　　The only alternative to being taken prisoner was to die fighting.(除了当俘虏之外, 惟一的选择就是奋战至死了。)

　　3.preference : 侧重因偏见、爱好或判断等而进行选择。

　　My preference is that we (should) challenge the other groups to a friendly competition.(我喜欢向别的组挑战, 来一个友谊竞赛。)

　　4.option : 着重特别给予的选择权利或权力，所选物常常相互排斥。

　　You will have to pay them; you have no option.(你必须付给他们钱, 别无选择。)

　　5.selection: 指作广泛的选择，着重选择者的识别力或鉴赏力。

　　We left the selection of the team to the captain.(我们把挑选队员的工作交给了队长。)

　　6.election : 强调目的和达到目的判断能力。

　　The newspapers are discussing the coming election.(各家报纸现在正谈论未来选举事宜。)
