　　continue词义解析：

　　1.to keep happening, existing, or doing something, or to cause something or someone to do this (使)继续，(使)持续，(使)延续

　　[ + to infinitive ] It's said that as the boat went down the band continued to play.

　　据说，船沉时乐队仍在继续演奏。

　　[ + -ing verb ] If she continues drinking like that, I'll have to carry her home.

　　如果她再继续那样喝下去，我就只好把她扛回家去了。

　　Do you intend to continue (with) your studies?

　　你打算继续你的学业吗?

　　If the rain continues, we'll have to cancel tonight's plans.

　　如果雨还下个不停，我们只好取消今晚的计划。

　　Sally Palmer will be continuing as chairperson this autumn.

　　2. to start to do something again after a pause (中断后)再继续，又开始

　　After stopping for a quick drink, they continued on their way.

　　停下来迅速喝了点水后，他们又继续赶路。

　　[ + -ing verb ] He paused for a moment to listen and then continued eating.

　　他停下来听了一会儿，又继续吃饭。

　　The president continued by saying that his country was a free country and would always remain so.

　　总统接下来说他的国家是个自由国度，而且会一直保持下去。

　　without a pause or interruption 不断的，连续的，持续的

　　I've had continual problems with this car ever since I bought it.

　　I'm sorry - I can't work with these continual interruptions.

　　5.continuation

　　the fact of continuing or a thing that continues or follows from something else 继续; 持续;延续

　　The continuation of the strike caused a lot of hardship.

　　持续罢工造成了大量贫困现象。

　　It's just a continuation of the bigger river, but with a different name.

　　它实际上是那条大河的延续，只是名称不同而已。
